    This is an interesting piece and an enjoyable read. I do think however that the majority of Naxi who originally lived in the old town are now making a very good living renting out their homes to Han entrepeneurs, so the commercialisation of parts of Lijiang (and indeed, some parts of the Old Town off the beaten track have yet to be commercialised) has helped increase the quality of life of just about every old town native, some more than others. I guess you have to take the good with the bad, in the name of progress.
