Grace of Texan in Tokyo just published a guest post I did for her site titled 6 Things I Cherish about my Cross-Cultural Marriage to a Chinese Man. Here’s a snippet:

My name is Jocelyn Eikenburg and I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. This summer, I’ll be celebrating 10 years of marriage with my husband John, who is a Chinese national.

Sure, we’ve weathered our share of misunderstandings over the years and had to learn to adapt to each other, both culturally and personally. But I still love him just as much as the day when I said “Wo yuanyi!” (I do) to him in the Shanghai Marriage Registry Office.

And over the years, I’ve discovered a lot to cherish about our relationship.

To learn about those six things I cherish so much, head on over to Texan in Tokyo and read the full guest post. And if you love it, share it!

  1. Congratulations on the 10 years of marriage! That’s wonderful. This month, my husband and I are celebrating 7 years of marriage. 🙂 You inspire me to do a similar post. Maybe. I really loved your answers. So true.

  2. First of all, thank you so much for doing a guest post. I absolutely LOVED it. It’s so wonderful to see you be able to take away so many wonderful things from your cross-cultural relationship.

Second, congrats on 10 years of marriage! That is so amazing 🙂
And, of course, very VERY inspirational!

  3. Read it on Grace’s site first. Congratulations!
As a JM married to WF (USA) after our share of LDR, and as a former central Massachusetts resident (our son was born in Worcester), I feel a certain closeness to you and John. We will cerebrate our 12th anniv. this summer, and like you two, I feel like we love each other more as years go on. Marriage is awesome! :-))

  4. Such a nice post! and 10 years!!!! Wow did not know that! Its so good to read about your experience and I especially liked that your MIL could teach you how to cook basic chinese dishes! Also beautifully written. Put a smile on my face, 🙂
