I’m Moving to Beijing to Work for the China Daily

Finally, time to share the big news with you — I’m bound for Beijing this weekend, where I’ll be working for the China Daily website as a copy editor.

It’s really a dream job for me, and so hard to put into words just how excited I am to work for China’s most prominent English-language newspaper.

But I’m also thrilled about relocating to Beijing, where a lot of my friends happen to live. We’ve had to manage long-distance friendships, so the prospect of actually meeting these friends in person is also like a dream. Or an early Christmas present. 😉

I also look forward to making new friends up in the great Chinese capital, including readers like you.

And don’t worry, the blog isn’t going anywhere. I’ll continue to publish the same outstanding content you’ve come to love from Beijing.

Here’s wishing everyone a gorgeous October!

P.S.: For anyone wondering, yes, my husband will move with me.

  1. Good for you Jocelyn. Let us know how you like it, and tell me about the heating system during winter.

I read most of your online copy.

    1. Hey thanks Maria! I’m going to be a copy editor so you might not necessarily see my byline on everything I’ve worked on. But I do hope to write some articles for China Daily and when I do you can be sure I’ll share them here. 🙂

      1. That would be great! Looking forward to it, and good luck with the move! I’m sure it will be a big change but a good change!

  2. Hi Jocelyn. That’s fantastic. My husband and I have live in Beijing, not too far from the China daily offices actually. I’d love to meet you in person once ur settled! Unfortunately, because of the 19th congress meeting, Beijing is a little crazy right now eg traffic and subway is a little insane at peak hour but it will soon be back to normal.

  5. congrats to your new career !!! hope everything will work out great for you and your hubby. in case the air in beijing is really bad, please remember that new delhi is much worse as it is #11 in WHO’s top 30 list. beijing is not in it.

  7. Congrats, Jocelyn! Have fun in Beijing! Have you lived there before? It’s my favourite city in China (if it wasn’t for the pollution, it would be perfect haha), although this special place in my heart could be because when I lived there I was still a student.

  8. Congratulations.

But I have a question, how will you feel about working for a newspaper that allows articles that state ‘there is no sexual harassment in China’, and that it only a problem in ‘western countries’ ?

I would be concerned you feel compromised is approving such articles as this that put a negative spin on things you know to be untrue.

  9. Congratulations Jocelyn! Hope you love Beijing – so much to see and do there. Its the melting pot of China! Looking forward to hear about your new experiences there….
