I’m thrilled to unveil the latest development for this site — translating selected posts into Chinese.
Last year, Fu Yuan, an incredibly dedicated fan of Speaking of China who hails from lovely Shandong Province, offered his help in translating my content. We’ve just launched 关于少见的洋妞中男配, the Chinese version of my most popular post, On the Rarity of Foreign Women and Chinese Boyfriends/Chinese Husbands. Expect to see more translations in 2014.
I’ll be adding Fu Yuan’s photo and brief introduction to my About page in the near future. Fu Yuan, words cannot express my gratitude for your assistance and extraordinary dedication to this website.
Readers — if there’s a post you’d love to see translated into Chinese, please let us know!
That’s great news! I always wished some of the posts could be translated to make them available for our boyfriends/husbands or everyone who’s interested and doesn’t understand English well enough. And I think it’s also interesting for learners of Chinese to read the posts in Chinese.
Big thanks also from me to Fu Yuan!
Although I don’t speak Chinese, yay that more people will be exposed to your posts and blog 🙂
Such a great initiative! Although my Chinese level is far from the understanding of a Chinese post, I’ll sneak in there to see if I can recognize some words and structures, compare it to the English version and see if I can “discover” parts of sentences^^.
Most interesting, we’ll be able to see the difference of English writing and Chinese writing, how the way to say the same things changes between them. I think this is the most important part to grasp when learning a foreign language. Even you learn lot of vocabulary and grammar, if you don’t internalize the essence of the language and culture, you’ll never speak like a Chinese. So, thanks again!
Fu Yuan has done a good job!
@ Jocelyn. I love the idea of the translation from English into Chinese. With over 1.5 billion people in the PRC, you are bound to receive many praises and encouragement. Maybe you can translate my 2 stories: 1) How a Chinenese man married a Brazilian woman; and 2) Setting up my Chinese newphew with 4 American girls. I think you will generate a lot of hits and comments from the Chinese in the PRC.
Good luck.
Fred
@ Jocelyn. You are great, J.E. I had a dream about you last night and it was that you became the President of the People’s Republic of China and later united Taiwan and Outer Mongolia and that you made peace with the Dali Lama and brought Tibet into the union. I think that your being the President of the PRC is not farfetched.
Fred
This is great news! Like Nuria, I am excited to try to read the Chinese posts (with the help of the English one side-by-side… my Mandarin is not good enough to read the Chinese post alone yet). This is actually an interesting study opportunity for those of us who are learning Mandarin – one important thing is the vocabulary and topics on your blog are things that will be super useful for talking with my husbands friends, etc. when they ask about our relationship. 🙂
你的影响力一定会因此迅速增长。说不定你们会成为中外名人。
