My favorite China forums

Small world. A loving, supportive community for women in all types of cross-cultural relationships, though primarily with Chinese men. If you're wondering where your community is, wonder no more.

Candle for love. A treasure trove of information and support for US citizens petitioning for a US visa/green card for their loved ones in China. Primarily fiancee (K) visas, though there are some CR1 and IR1s, as well as Direct Consular Filings (like me!). Learn all about the process, the Guangzhou Consulate and the interview so you'll be successful the first time around! And make some friends too.

China news websites

China Weblog. News, resources and commentary all about the PRC from a Canadian. Nice links.

PRC News. Focus on news on, about, and from the Chinese mainland by a guy living there...definitely not the China Daily. :-)

Ron Gluckman's China Stories. A collection of "swanky" news articles, from the Great Wall to "Rockin' in the PRC"

China weblogs, etc.

China - a Different View. Tim Zachernuk paints a great picture of life and work out in remote Western China.

Brainy Smurf. Adam Morris' take on life in the PRC...entertaining and insightful.

Dave in China. Life in Suzhou and a whole treasure trove of China photos by Dave Porter...another fellow with the "China itch".

Sinosplice.com's other Weblogs page. John Pasden has an excellent collection of Weblogs from around China...read them and get an insiders scoop on life in China! Also check out his blog.

English Language Pubications in China

The China Daily

City Weekend. A godsend for China expats wondering "what will I do this weekend?" Listings on restaurants, bars, movie theaters, gyms, and more. Find paper editions in Beijing, Shanghai, and Xian.

That's Shanghai. Another China entertainment guide, specifically for Shanghai. Growing in popularity, they've recently expanded to Beijing and Guangzhou...that's capitalism! :-)

That's Beijing

That's Guangzhou

The Shanghai Star. Considered by many foreigners as the finest English-language newspaper in China. Read for yourself!

Expatriate Websites

Expats in China. A definitive website for living in China...entertainment listings, travel info, find jobs, send flowers, study Chinese, you name it.

Expat Beijing. Has your garden-variety expat resources. The look is slightly commercial.

Expat Shanghai. Bills itself as the "definitive Shanghai web-site". Includes online reservation features. Great resources, but the help function is often out of service.

Shanghai Expat. The design is a lot slicker here and user-friendly, and, besides including everything you'd expect from an expat website, they've even got a forum.

Househunting and Real Estate sites

Space Property. Shanghai-based real-estate company providing services for apartment and house rentals and sales in the Shanghai area.

Wo Ai Wo Jia. (English and Chinese versions) One of the most reputable and widespread real estate agencies in China. Rent or buy apartments or houses all over China.
